So basically if you want an on-the-water view, cough up big style? non-official boats will be kept well away I assume. Lovely. Wonder also if that'll be the only way to access WPNSA?

Well here's another option, that according to the blurb will give you on the water viewing...
But before anybody gets too excited I have given them a ring and there is still some confusion as to exactly what is on offer, more detail should be available around the end of May it appears, and if your still interested they are quoting a price of £795 per person per day!

That'll be good for the race areas within Porltland harbour....
Anyway, decided to send another enquiry. Lets see if I get a sensible response. Place your bets! I'm going with "no":
Sailing I've asked before about what the tickets for the sailing actually gets. I've had astonishingly poor answers. I'd hoped that by the time the ticket sales started that something more certain would have been sorted. £55 is quite al ot of money for a mystery. All your website says is: ---------- "A ticketed onshore area from which spectators can view the competition is under consideration. This area would have the added benefit of a video screen to keep spectators updated on the action. Please be aware there would be no seats – standing or sitting on the ground would be the only options for spectators. " -------
It seems incredible that London 2012 sees fit to offer tickets without having finalised where the ticketed area will be and what will be on offer (apart from no seats). £55 is a lot to pay to watch a big screen, given that the bay offers many good vantage points for spectating.
It is an utter shambles.
Also, last time I sent an enquiry, the reply I got, as well as being rubbish, was buried halfway through a huge email with a load of irrelvant FAQ answers. please, don't send me all that this time, please only send me a relevant answer.
|
Evens- they quote the same bit of the same page I've quoted
2:1- any human answer is buried, like last time
100:1- I get a good answer
1000:1- I get a good answer with a value for money option.

They proudly stated on BBC News the other morning that public viewing will be free for 25,000 people from the beach (I assume they mean Weymouth beach).

I've not gone for anything yet (no need to rush)- they're still saying they're considering what the viewing area will be (and where?). Utter, decietful, shambles.

Assuming the 49er medal race follows the Sail for Gold tradition and is in Portland harbour then forget about the tickets and get yourself to Portland nice and early. Find yourself a spot on the road up to the Verne Prison entrance and you'll get a superb view of the whole race course.
Hopefully you'll be able to tell which boat is which when they hoist.
I expect that's where I'll be.

Question: When will the competition schedule be released?
Answer: The full competition schedule for the London 2012 Olympic Games has been released. You can view the full event details for each session, by sport, as well as all ticket prices and ticket limits. Please be aware that the team draws cannot be announced until 2012 when all qualifying events are complete, so at this stage we are unable to tell you which countries will play when and where. View and download the full Olympic Games competition schedule The Paralympic Games competition schedule will be released in 2011.
Question: I am a disabled person. What arrangements are in place to help me attend the Games?
Answer: We are pleased to announce that we will have a range of seating options and facilities to assist disabled spectators at Games time, including:
- Seats accessed via the fewest number of steps - Easy access seats, such as at the end of a row - Seats for spectators who are deaf or hearing impaired with a direct view of video information - Seats close to the action for visually impaired spectators - Guide dog and assistance facilities
There will be ample numbers of lifts and toilet facilities within the Olympic Park providing excellent access for all spectators, across all levels.
Further information on price categories and a more detailed breakdown will be released prior to the application period for Olympic Games tickets opening on 15 March 2011.
Question: Can I get a ticket to the visit the Park without watching any events?
Answer: We launched our ticketing ‘Sign Up’ in March 2010 to give registered members of public regular updates on our ticketing process.
Ticketing access to the Olympic Park is an important consideration for security reasons in order to keep visitor numbers at a safe level and prevent overcrowding.
We are still finalising our ticketing strategy but more details will be released prior to the application period for Olympic Games tickets opening on 15 March 2011. We are looking at a number of options that would provide access to the Park for those that want to visit the Park at Games time but not to watch a sporting event.
Question: Will travel in London be included in the price of my ticket?
Answer: Spectators with tickets for Games events in London will receive a Games travelcard for zones 1-9 to use on public transport in London on the day of their event. This will include London Underground (Tube), London Overground rail, DLR, bus, tram and some national rail services but not the Heathrow, Stansted or Gatwick Express trains or taxis. Ticket holders for Games events will also be entitled to a one-third discount on river service tickets in London. Ticket holders for Games events at Eton Dorney, Lee Valley White Water Centre and Hadleigh Farm will receive a Games travelcard to use on public transport in London on the day of the event. They will also be able to travel by rail between London and the stations serving these venues using this travelcard.
Question: Will I be able to apply for tickets to the Sailing events?
Answer: We are considering a ticketed onshore area from which spectators would be able to view the competition. This area would have the added benefit of a video screen to keep spectators updated on the action. Please be aware there would be no seats - standing or sitting on the ground would be the option for spectators. Please visit London 2012.com for updated info.

Dear Alistair,
All Sailing tickets are general admission, this means means it allows you entry into a venue in which standing is permitted.
A free ticketed big screen on Weymouth Beach is also being explored to relay all the action of the sailing competition.
For Sailing price category A and B offer the same level of viewing and access., however the number of price category B tickets for session SA001 on 29th July 2012 may be limited. Please continue to monitor the website www.london2012.com for further information
We hope this information has been useful. Please get in touch if you have any further questions.
Best wishes, Mike on behalf of The London 2012 Ticketing Team. |
