With luck we should have Icon there on Saturday - We want to try out some new boat / rig settings again before the Beastie.  We know you have a Phantom meeting there then but we'll keep out of the way.

The tall rig works very well but that said the mast is only 50mm longer than the Blaze one - and is in carbon of course.  We kept the square top relatively modest given the height and the overall centre of effort is comparitively low.  Sail area is in fact around 13.6m

And you wondered who keyed your car maxi Shocked

Don't think I have hit anything/one since Spinnaker and that was only you and Hawksey but you both kept hitting me, at one point I thought the rules had changed since I had been away ;-)

With my name and your comments Maxi hopefully people should stay out of my way now on the course! Saying that if there is a gap I'm not one to waste it!

Just to add it was you who named me Captain Slow! ;-))

2 comedy moments actually - I needed to make sure I won something at least.

And I was owed from a few years ago when my only collision avoidance option was to tack the 200 with the kite up

No, I'm just trying to understand why somebody even builds a boat without a kite. I seem to recall even those old Merlin things have a tiny little ballooney kite of sorts, I guess it has to be small because the dithery old duffers that sail Merlins would struggle with anything bigger..

But the icon is new, it's kewell, it's modern, all those rare things in dingho land, it was by way of somehow trying to understand why it wouldn't have a kite, even that retarded revisionist riverboat had a kite, o.k. screwed by the silly pole thing but it is a kite at least.

And that picture showed me a reason not to... is all.

Clive you've got to stop all that hiking out hard nonesense, it's not good for you, ask that James, it gives your knees a hernia, if it doesn't do it to the other bit..

Hiking technique Graeme - pretty much straight legs. Larks used to trash my knees in my youth and the 200 is not perfect for me, but 20 laser years and the 100, no worries. And Frensham is tiny, so you cannot go far without it getting to be time for a walk on the other side!

Yes Clive, but its hardly very dignified for a grown man LOL

I think Graeme's right, all this hanging off the side nonsense shouldn't be allowed. There should be a seperate handicap in all classes for people whole sail like a gentlemen and don't allow their backsides to protrude from the boat  Thumbs Up

Because a lot of people like boats like that...

A quick scan of the YY table, if I read it right suggests 11 two handed adults dinghy classes had 50plus boats at their nationals last year. Of those 5 had pole kites and 3 each no kite or asymmetrics. So if around a quarter of the population prefer two handed boats without kites then it makes sense to consider them.

Those of us who've spend many hours manning stands at Sailboat have learned that what people choose to buy and race often has very little to do with what they choose to get excited about, especially in pub conversation like this...
