Does look like it would power up quite a lot very quickly once the breeze got up, but then again if it's designed for rivers that will happen a lot less than other places. Boom was very high, suppose making the almost constant tacking and gybing on rivers that little bit easier. Similarly to the Icon, rather impressed and really pleased to see independent people producing boats that not only look the part but stand a chance of succeeding in todays slightly crowded and very competitive market

Skill level? The skill level for an assy is effectively zero. All you do is pull on a bit of string. A brain-damaged monkey can be trained to do that in about 2 nano-seconds. As I said, sailing is about skill not speed. If you want speed, whack a big engine onto the back.

I must admit that I was very impressed - that rig does look pretty huge but I was told that the carbon mast has enough 'give' in it to dampen out the big gusts. I didn't even ask how much it costs - 'if you have to ask, you can't afford it'. I should imagine that it's a lot of fun to sail, I've never sailed with a symmetric kite but it did make me think that it could a lot of fun learning how to use one in a boat like that,

The boat looks great.
That 3 rivers race where that video was shot looks crazy, 50miles, 3 rivers, marks that you can round in any order and 2 bridges! Did you have to unstep that massive mast and paddle under the bridges?

Really great so many of you guys turned up at the stand, it was a real pleasure to meet you.

We had a great day, the stand was pretty crowded all day and we recorded a lot of requests for trial sails. I'll be back this afternoon too.

Regarding the kite: One way of thinking about it is that this (and some other) boats are mainly 2 sail, but when you are going downwind it's a bit tedious so you really want to stick some more sail area up. I's certainly not designed as a reaching kite, however we were praised by some for holding it more (angles and time) than most on the 3 rivers race and it is always fun reaching!

Yes you must  take the mast down 4 times on the 3 rivers race - first you have to take the GNAV off (easy , but slight pain getting back on quickly), then down with main and the rest is easy, the rig is unwieldy but very light. I thought the 'x' one seemed to have a 'gentleman racer' feel to it, very nice but I fear not for our gusty water where the hamper would fall out all the time. Why not build boats for specific reasons? 49's are designed for howling across open water so why not a  boat for the opposite end of the conditions spectrum?

I saw the boat and thought that it looked neat, albeit rather narrow. I could not find anyone to talk to, so could not ask the question that I wanted to: Does anyone know how much it might cost?

Yes it really does work on a dead run. It just works like a conventional spinnaker if for tactical reasons you are forced to have to run deep. 

Example: Strong wind offshore, no wind inshore near the leeward mark and a windward tide. Off shore your layline is bang on, the nearer the buoy, the wind drops, you end up initially trying to stay on the plane by sailing higher, eventually you come off the plane and the tide takes you even higher. The other asymmetric you're racing has no choice but to stay high sail on and gybe, you wang the pole and point straight at the mark and leave him two extra legs and a gybe behind.

Well fantasia, like all products designed for gentlemen, 'if you have to ask then you cant afford it'.........but about £12,000 I believe.
