large shipping is often "protected" by local (harbour) bye-law where there's an appropriate authority. I'm pretty sure there will be legally enforced exclusion zones (there may even be something buried deep in the Olympic Act if anyone cares to go wading through it)- after all, they're going to want to stop you driving through the middle of a race...

For sure, I expect there to be exclusion zones which will be patrolled by Ribs, but I can't see how they can stop you from wathing from outside it.
We've watched AC cuppers racing and the Volvo going off in the Solent. What's so different?

Temporary Navigation orders and Royal Marines with automatic weapons would do the job nicely... When a coach boat set off on its own at the Athens Olympics due to the coach having forgotten to attach his kill cord the Greek Navy simply shot it out of the water... |

Great isn't it.
They go on about how great this event will be for local businesses and the community, and then they no only exclude them from making money out of it, but they also stop them doing their regular job aswell.
How marvellous.

Bob *you* surely didn't actually believe the government when they said that did you?

There's a schedule and pricing available now here, but I'm not that sure what the price actually includes- is it just admission to the Academy? Does it include a place on a spectator boat? I can find nothing that actually says what or where the "General Admission" actually gets you.
Bascially:
Qualification sessions are £35, sessions that include medal races and prize giving are £55
Edit: I've sent a question in to ask what the ticket price actually buys. Edited by alstorer - 15 Feb 11 at 9:24am |

I'd seen the schdule on the BBC, I bet £55 doesn't get you on the water. Probably puts you in front of a big screen on a quay where you can wave at the sailors as they float past ignoring you.
Be interested to hear any reply mind.

Right, so, I've got a response. Sort of. The email itself was a horrendous mess, with the answer to my question buried amongest a load of irrelvant "Auto response" answers from the existing FAQ.
So, um, they don't actually know. They've not even said where the ticketed area will be- I asked if it was going to be at WPNSA or elsewhere. I'd assume it must be WPNSA as it seems to be indicated that the medal days tickets included the medal ceromonies- but there's seemingly no-way to be sure. Can't help but feel that they need to delay selling tickets until they've actually decided what the package includes? Would it even be legal to sell the tickets without more information? Seems like the only thing they've considered is how much they can fleece you for.
