Tom, what made you go for a 29er? Any pics?

I'm quite interested, but have so far stuck to 26's as I have a shed load of spare wheels and tyres etc. Always wonder if its worth trying though, might suit my riding...

It's just one my friend had for sale. They go over rocks and bums like you wouldn't believe! So easy it makes you feel like a MB hero. That's the only difference I can notice really, they seem quite 'fast' if you know what I mean. Mine is on the left.

Arghh post timeout......

James, if you are cycling round Kineton/Southam area in the winter across fields, forget it. The mud here sucks big time. Its just clay clay clay and jams everything up. Thats why i finally gave in and bought a road bike.... However, I get bored on that so also built one of these (now running super skinny 1.9 winter mud tyres):

The dusters are nice but a bit overpriced when compared to the on-ones. A few people dont rate On-One as they are brand snobs but i reckon you cant go wrong with their kit if on a budget. I ride my 456 far more than my enduro which is now reserved for special (rocky DH) occasions, mainly in Wales. Iain rates his too!

Check these out:

If you didnt fancy building it yourself let me know as I love building bikes!

We have a new addition to the bike stable in the form of my girlfriends new Cube. I am rather jealous as it is really nice. I may be forced to upgrade as it is more pimp than my Marin and we just can't be having that!

As far as tyre choice goes, I bought Nobby Nics for my bike as they were rated as a good all rounder. At 2.25 they are quite chunky and do get pretty clogged up with mud. Kates Cube came with Racing Ralphs which have a similar but much less aggressive tread pattern which do seem to clear better. They are also a LOT easier to clean!

Going to Wales in Feb so will give it a good test. Can't wait.

twice on the way home yesterday nearly ran into the side of idiot car drivers pulling out in front of me- first one had no bloody excuse, was looking straight at him for several seconds before he moved. I've got two reasonable lights mounted on my bike (one of them was in flashing mode, as normally that's better in town) plus a couple of cheap crappy flashers on my helmet, so the "I didn't see you there" excuse holds no water. I pulled the brakes so hard my wheels locked and skidded a bit...
