Tim, if you need a crew for your demo please give me a call.
So who is in the lead with the kids race?  My eldest is 5, but a very small 5. She is always going to be small, the wife is keen (until she realises how much its probably going to cost)

Glad to hear you came round on the dangly pole front.

Also glad to see you've got a proper kicker on it.

It certainly does look smashing.

There's a bit more description of the first days sailing on the Yahoo Group page (search for icon sailing). Sounds good to me

My Daughter is 3 in a couple of weeks, but she's already mastered her grandfather's Hanse 300. Not sure if an Icon will be challenging enough ;).
My plan is probably to go for a Graduate once shes about 4, then maybe see what Icons are doing when shes about 8-9.

Judging by mine (8 and 10) they will just be the right size to be useful in a Grad (Firefly in my case) at about age 9. Before that, they tend to need a lot of looking after in the boat. My son (the 10 year old) crewed me at the Versa inlands last Summer, and really got the hang of the spinnaker quickly. He also takes the Lightning out when the wind is light, but all adult boats have the wrong size of everything for a small person.
So Icon would be pretty ambitious for a 9 year old, but by the time they are 12, they will be an expert crew, just at the point they want to go off and sail with their mates...
