Agreed, except dinghy, bike and outdoors seems a better fit than gin palace, bike and outdoors.

We went to go on a few of the really expensive yachts / boats and they had signs saying "by appointment only" - Is this a new concept? |

Not really. I remember it being like that when I used to go to the Boat Show back in the early 70s. |

The last thing they want is some rich banker buying one of their boats on a whim - no they have to book ahead. I've always been very confused by the idea that you can't be shown a certain boat at a boat show - seems to defeat the whole object of the excercise! ![]() |

I imagine that if you have even the slightest smell of rich banker (or even scruffy rock star) about you then you're able to book a tour for about 10 seconds ahead... I suspect that they want to avoid the 'oi polloi cramming up the boat and messing up the carpets so that potential customers are crowded out. |

and you were not using them? ![]() Seriously, why would you build a £150k boat then get the world and his wife wanting to run their mucky fingers over it. The Sunseeker and Fairline stands dont care really, all they will di is rip up the carpet and sell on to someone else. Anyone able to link to the Laser 4.7 that is sitting on the back of the Fairline. I saw it on FB but can't find it via Google. |

I went to the biggest boat in the show and it had "by appointment only". So I asked for an appointment and they said yes!

It was the Princess 32M (105 feet) and was absolutely amazing. Despite declaring I had absolutely no interest in buying, the guy showing me around was so proud of his company and vessel they had created that he spent an hour pointing everything out. The bridge and engine room where particularly impressive. |
