I was sure they would all get binned. Just goes to show how the vocal few can give the impression of a concensus. I'm so pleased the 400 fleet isn't the conservative bunch of old farts it appeared.

Now looking forward to seeing the upgrade pricelist for the relevant changes. Lets start with the bowsprit and single-line launch kit please.

So some of the more radical ideas dropped even before the vote then, such as the fully-adjustable mast ram and the fat headed main?

When I spoke to the guys test sailing at Hayling, they certainly indicated the carbon foredeck was entirely pimp, and that a white foredeck, made of vinylester, would be the standard.

yeah thats the idea. The carbon foredeck looked good on the 100 so they stuck one on the 4 and hey it looked cool. Its literally just a ply of carbon and the rest glass.
Will be interesting to see how many boats with mods are at the nationals this year. Or indeed how many boats there are at this years nats. i thought it would be a big year but i have a suspicion people may be put off by having to buy new sails etc. although in all honesty it should make bugger all difference

The fast guys will buy new sails, because they want a new sail- this is sort of what Jim was getting at in his essay. I'm not actually all to surprised they didn't put the more redical stuff to the vote- changing to the set up I saw at Hayling would have produced a real performance change.

Warning!
two people at our club who have bought rs400 carbon poles have been asked to return them as they need to be strengthened.
If you have bought one I would check with RS before using it again.

That must the special heavy pole for your club Gordon!
Question is, will the re-inforcement be glass or carbon?

It is specifically called a glass-carbon pole in the blurb.

I would have hoped the new pole was at least as strong as the old one, but to be fair I've only seen them fail due to collisions.

How many 400's at Lossc now and how active?

Anybody know what set up on the spreaders People are using with the new mainsail. It has more luff curve so I assume the standard deflection of 145mm is not enough?
