Frensham pond is only 70 acres and 5-6 feet deep so no big surprise to see ice there but I am impressed that 'big' water such as Bewl and Graffam have ice and I assume the river Cam is flowing water (albeit slow enough to Punt on in the summer), so that is also a surprise.

Foremark (Burton Sailing club) is a very deep lake - over 100ft in areas - and around 300 acres

In the shallower areas it has a skin of ice, but for the most part (and certainly in the racing area) it is clear.

On Sunday we suffered for a problem not unrelated to the Ice - a lack of will to get going as it was just soooo cold

Probably not. Dikerogammarus appears to be much more salt tolerant than the existing species.

Hmmm  ...  a bit of salt would also help with weed problems ....  maybe I should check with the local council to see if they have a spare salt mountain??

What you want is some salt in those waters, the Solent is fine.
It would probably kill those pesky shrimp as well.
