So I know lots of smaller ponds are Frozen eg. Frensham and Papercourt have been frozen for over three weeks and I think I read that Spinnaker is 'part frozen', but how are the bigger (deeper?)lakes doing or smaller lakes in other areas??  Just interested to know how widely the sailing disruption extends??? Confused

What you want is some salt in those waters, the Solent is fine.
It would probably kill those pesky shrimp as well.

Hmmm  ...  a bit of salt would also help with weed problems ....  maybe I should check with the local council to see if they have a spare salt mountain??

Probably not. Dikerogammarus appears to be much more salt tolerant than the existing species.

Foremark (Burton Sailing club) is a very deep lake - over 100ft in areas - and around 300 acres

In the shallower areas it has a skin of ice, but for the most part (and certainly in the racing area) it is clear.

On Sunday we suffered for a problem not unrelated to the Ice - a lack of will to get going as it was just soooo cold
When you find a big kettle of crazy it's probably best not to stir it - Pointy Haired Boss
