Why is it that when you meet Scots living in England, they're often Super-Scots, always banging on about how much better it is in Scotland (while continuing to live in England), yet when you go to Scotland the people seem much more normal?

To be honest, I was the same vis a vis Britain when I lived on the Continent. Now I'm back I'm starting to get a hankering to return to Holland and Germany. Das Gras ist immer gruener.

Just enough snow to make driving start to look dodgy in (parts of) North Kent yesterday, then it stopped. Looks threatening today, but only an occasional flurry.

The final race of the Wilsonian Open Winter Series tomorrow, and nobody's cancelled it yet. There are three of us in with a chance of winning the Long Course Series based on that final race. We're leading on countback, but i don't want to win by default, so I don't want it cancelled; on the other hand, I don't really want to sail in these temperatures (for my crew's sake, obviously). Trying to work out if I'll still get a bottle of wine if we DNC or DNF/DNS...

It took me 6 and a half hours to get from Paignton to Portsmouth this evening. I wonder if they had gritted the roads at all today as one heavy snow shower and the roads were a complete mess around Dorchester! Think I will buy a 4x4 and then just draw a straight line on the map and go for it next time!

yeah and keep it that way until I get home from the South Coast......

The forecast does seem to be changing by the min - now it looks like in the middle of the country we'll be waking up Monday morning to go back to bed again - I suspect by tomorrow it could all change.

Long range - it looks err cold.
Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

Just trudge through the snow on the jetty, brush the stuff off the decks and off you go for some j-j-jolly cruiser sailing Ouch

.

Note how the tide has melted the snow on the banks, but that the salty beach above (neaps at present) didn't inhibit the snow laying.
