So Events committee seems to have voted in Athens - Boards, Singlehanders, Skiffs, Finn, Match racing women, mixed 470, mixed multi....

You can see how they got there, but thats 7 men and 9 women in a full 2016 Olympic team? Hmmm...sublime to the ridiculous?
 
Still Council to take a view yet...

Boards - women 1 men 1?
singlehanders - women 1 men 1?
skiffs - men 2?
Finn - men 1?
Match racing women - women 3?

mixed multi - women 1 men 1?
 
Total - women 7? men 7?
 
Sorry to ask but it's not been easy to get information from the ISAF site so it's great to get input from someone at the sharp end.

Hi Rodney - well yes it was sunny here on Hayling Island today!...actually I was just reading ISAF conference blog...and add 2 girls for the womens skiff and you have 9.

2 boards, 2 singlehanders, 2 skiffs, Finn, Womens MR, mixed multi, mixed 470.

Aha!  You're right it has been sunny on Hayling Island Smile
You are, of course, also right with the maths.  I didn't realise that they had womens' as well as mens' skiffs included.  This is certainly not representative of our sport.  It does now look a bit out of balance but surely council will spot that?  Let's hope so!

I guess tthat the Equipment Committee might say that it's an equal number of medals for men and women (at one boat per medal)?  But it's people who win medals, not boats.... 
 
The proposal to have 7 men and 9 women particapants makes you wonder what the evelaution crtieria were, and whether the Committee stuck to those criteria?
 
It seems incredible that so much time (and expense paid by us) can be spent reaching such an illogical proposal.

I think it has to be mixed. Otherwise the Olympic term is "open".
