Thats a good point Peaky, i thought it was two classes ??

It is interesting how the difference in rigs is working.  The 10.2 seems to be a monster in big wind!!   A real big boys toy.  The smaller guys can compete with the 8.4. I think its great.

That's one of my better jokes!!! (BTW If The Moo is reading this, please add some more jokes to the funny e-mails thread! Its been abandoned too long...)

Sounds like a great event with a really good mix of nationalities.

I don't want to stir a hornet's nest, but to be honest I am suprised that the results of the two rigs are grouped not seperated at all.  There is no indication in the report or results as to who used what.  With the hoo-haa following the RYA lumping them both in on one PY, it doesn't seem as if the class(es) are helping themselves in this respect.  If you treat yourselves as one class, its no suprise the RYA and clubs do too.

I used to sail with a 'fixed' mast, so never before 'raking' was an issue for me. I'm a little puzzled now. I think i need to rake the mast when sailing in strong wind. But that will move the center of effort AFT, which result in more weather helm. The other effect is that the center of effort will move DOWN, which is good news, because that makes it easier to keep the boat flat, and less heel reduces weather helm. So which force wins? More kicker will also bring the CE down, so isn't it better to keep the mast straight up?

IMHO weather helm is widely misunderstood and of little relevance on boats with widely separated rudder and board of generous size. I would regard it as being a signiicant factor.

It must be a nightmare to arrange an open event schedule halfway through the year.  You guys need a pat on the back.  Good luck all of you (from a very jealous MB)

Well i have got to agree with you there mate, it may sound like i am contridicting myself.  But the girls in the office always did a good job. Dispite my little spat with them all i have no, axe to grind. Although i do have an issue with the value for money side and some of the smaller RS classes.   But the (200, 100, 400) certainly see the value.
I would of thought it would be quite hard to get an event set up at a top venue at (i'm guessing) last minute.

Its a shame i can not afford one mate. When they get around the £4-4500k mark i will be joining you (if you will all have me)
