There have been a number of people talking about making an I-phone GPS app for sailing.  If you could make a transparent version that clips to the mast and holds the I-phone upright i can see a market there (albeit limited)  I am sure it would be very useful for the big boat boys, but you will really only get feedback from dinghy sailors on here.  I would try one if it were mounted on my boat somewhere, but i wouldn't wear one sailing.  I am sure it could be easily mounted looking at how the straps work.  if a boat has Buoyancy bags you could use the webbing straps on them or a quick mod of the packs strapping system would mean it could be mounted on the front of a mast.

OK there's some good, helpful discussion emerging now and it seems we may have two or three people that actually would use one. Well, that's encouraging at least.

Yes please I'll have one! Smile

I too would like to be able to mount somewhere on the boat as I wouldn't really like to wear it. Some sort of adjustable velcro strap around the mast or footstraps. How big is the opening? Can you get a nana in it?! Great for keeping snacks dry.

I've just bought one of those iphone doo dahs to handlebar mount so I can video the dog without having to do it one handed, they do all sorts of fitting for it, damned if I can remember where I got it now, googley handlebar mount for iphone..

One bit holds the phone and the other section is a variety of mounts. I had thought of mounting it to the jolly old 100 of joy, see what the world looks like totally inverted.. Confused

So, is there any other areas of use this product would be suited to?

I told you the best route right now.. Stand up paddle boarding, go and flog them to Simon Basset of 2XS (google it) tell him I sent you and it looks lame enough for him to be interested..
but seriously don't tell him what it's called, just say you have this waterproof hip pack all his lame pals will love to keep their eye liner in, he'll get the gist.. Wink

He'll flog it into that market for you and probably give you some other names.

Thank me later

and no thanks, not even in my coffin as they push me out to sea to fire flaming arrows at me.

Ok many thanks GRF.  I have sent an email to him and as a result of the advice here in this thread I have contacted the manufacturer who agreed that perhaps a more UK friendly name would be appropriate.

With that in mind we are running a competition to come up with the best names and then to hopefully adopt one of them and rename the product.

If anyone does want to enter it then look here www.seacurebags.co.uk/competition.php
