The RS100 Owners Thread

Got another go in the 100 last night, while the owner did RO duties.  This is the last time I’m going to sail one or if I do sail again I will have to buy one!

Conditions about F2-3 didn’t have chance to put the big rig on (Phantom weight) but wound the ram up to 8 on the scale.  Got a good clean start but by the end of the beat all the 4’s and Phantom had passed me.  I sat well forward on the wing (sitting on the spinny sheet block).  Downwind passed the Phantom back and then last of the group of 4’s.  the next couple of legs were W/L and this is where the 100 came into it’s own, going much fast and lower than the 4’s.  Overall came 2^nd only 29sec behind the leader.   Great Sail

Spent Sat avo modding the RS in anticipation of the ship race, but then
used the Alto.

So haven't tried the none rear sheeting yet, but the front end stuff is
proven.

Downhaul works, the mastfoot protector stops the spinnaker sheet
engaging with the nuts on the side of the boom pivot.

Oh and a small pulley to return the outhaul in my direction.




Temporary re-siting of rear sheeting untried.

It is the bridle from the stern, just wrapped around that metal sticking up
turret bit that houses the main sheet stuff. So in theory in light weather I
can just switch it back aft. (If it doesn't work as well in light winds that is.

Otherwise that's where I think it's going to remain, given the number of cock
ups the rear sheeting induces, it's removal will outweigh any performance
enhancement it might bring. I've analysed what's gone wrong in my windy
race spills and nine times out of ten it's the rear sheeting or its narrow
avoidance leading to unbalancing me during hoists and drops and such.
