I have the same thing - I can pull on the cunningham but ony until the block comes donw and touches the lower kicker blocks - so any good ideas would be welcome

I should have taken a picture, when I wrote that I wasn't sure it would
work, but it does.

So I've used an old windsurfer two pulley hook at the sail clew and put a 2
pulley block alongside the shackle that goes through the sail at the foot.

Used a bit longer line attached to the existing block.

It works fine, and I appear to be getting a bit more purchase.

Tried it on the water last night, we didn't have enough wind to race, or so
they decided, it was enough to use the spinnaker without it collapsing,
and enough to check all the repairs and mods worked fine.

Our club is going through the doldrums on Thursdays now, it's been so
long since we had any wind the b**tards are getting out of the habit of
sailing.

I think you can probably do better than WD40 as a lubricant on the pole and that.

Is increasing purchase on the cunningham within the class rules? It may be, I'm just curious thats all.

Would have thought it unnecessary... why not just pull harder?

It's a tiny rope, flat against the deck and I maxed it out and it gave
nowhere near the downhaul capability of the sail and the time I tried to
wang it on I was left handed (the rig was stuck on the starboard side) and
I'd had to dump the kicker.

Seems to me that the sail is designed with downhaul in mind and it needs
some welly, particularly given I'm pretty over powered at the top end of a
three and that's been the only time so far I've had to try and downhaul the
balls off it. (Windsurfer mindset, if in doubt wang on loads of downhaul,
does it every time, and it worked, got me back in without any further
drama, given I couldn't tack)

I am fairly sure WD40 will damage the pole fibres or resin (they are carbon yes?) if it gets through your varnish.
