Nothing to do with the boat, as you say its great fun. But we are having an extension built and its a bit selfish of me to spend a load of cash on a boat thats just for me, when there are plenty of other things that need the money. However it was me that commissioned the design that has ultimately lead to the RS100 so it seemed silly not to see it through to the end and sample the boat that in my own little way helped to create. So house and family has to now come first and I'll let some one else enjoy what is a great boat. Ian Edited by ifoxwell |

Certainly all at RS will miss you, Ian, your input was invaluable. Hope the wife has forgiven you for days spent at Hayling when you should have been away on holiday! Best of luck for the extension and future sailing... Cheers, Nick. |

Leech hook - 8.4m rig In very light airs - drfters- I am having a problem opening up the leach. Initially I had too much batten tension, but now have this is about right and with some kicker can get the leach to open (but still hooked) no kicker and the leach is really hooked - any ideas for curing this? Genrally the rig is set up as per Nick's basic guide. Cheers Martin |

Martin, I have exactly the same issue in really light winds. Not really resolved it but like you eased battens and pull a bit more kicker to flatten off. Not much else we can do? As soon as there is any decent breeze its fine. Cheers, Keith. |

That's just how it is for me too - you seem to need some kicker and a bit of cunningham to get the sail shape reasonable but it is still hard to get rid of the hooking leach. As you pull on more kicker it seems like you need more cunningham to remove the creases and get a 'nice' looking sail shape, but I suspect it is easy to overdo both kicker and cunningham when it is light? Hope there is someone more experienced with 100s or 300s and fully battened sails out there who can help a bit more?

I'm not sure you can ever completely get rid of this
affect, its just part of having an unstayed rig and a sail with a lot of roach. Me, i just minimise the affect as much as I can and then concentrate on my sailing. I don't find it such a problem as long as i concentrate on not over sheeting. Ian |
