like the lighter colour decks much more than the dark blue... good work to all concerned it's looking like a success in Europe...

Harsh Steve, harsh! Think you are getting me confussed with Jimbo!
There is however a slight element of truth, can i just point out i don't count the Solo as ever being owned by me! |

Nice one Tim, that's an awesome result.
I can't help but notice some of the shocking boat handling in the Bracciano Day 2 footage on your blog! it doesn't look to be that windy or choppy and there are a lot of people binning it in at the leeward mark?! |

Thanks. Friday practice was "dogs off chains" windy, I stupidly went out for 4 hours and knackered myself for Saturdays first race (schoolboy error) Saturday was really windy with wierd short choppy waves. Sunday was quite windy when the sea breeze picked up and then it stopped when the thunder storm came over. The first race was on Sunday was a force 4-ish, with a short chop. There are a few beginners in the fleet too, beginners to the D-One that is, so handling skills are on the blocks. Majority of the fleet are ex laser sailors, the guy who won at Bracciano was 4th in a Laser masters European event, and there was a particularly fast chap who used to be in the Laser squad. It's definately taking off in Europe, the racing is excellent. Timg |

The sun is out, it's windy, you are on holiday ... go sailing, there may be no wind tomorrow.. Unless it's the first race in the Olympics tomorrow for you I recommend you do the same again next time. Interestingly are you finding it's best to half hike upwind with a bit of stab 'n' flap and save your hiking energy for the downwind stuff where the extra leverage could make much more speed difference? |

Jimbo take it as it was meant mate. A joke, I know how much you have struggled to scratch that itch in terms of dinghy sailing, some boats were close but didn't quite suit. Its been a long, costly and painful journey. But you have got there chap. I really am glad you have found what you have been looking for.

If i am perfectly Honest Jimbo i like the look of the D-one now. Maybe in a few years, but currently i am really happy with the Phantom, especially the slightly more lenient nature of the class rules. Big smiles from MB

Hi Rick, Sorry I missed that post. In answer to your question, um well TBH it maybe me being lazy, but with the leaverage of the wings and the control of the track its actually really easy to set up the rig so that you can sit very comfortably on the wings, sailing free and weaving in and out of the waves, occasionally letting the mainsheet off if the wave gets too big or you time it wrong and need to get started again. Downwind is even easier, no energy saving needed at all. Again, sorry I missed that post. Timg |

James, Of course we will have new D-Ones with new decks - not blue either The last one we delivered to HISC, with the new decks, looks fantastic with just a touch of carbon around the mast and aft edge of foredeck - very smart. The new owner is thrilled and in his latest email to me he said: 'I finally got to race the boat over the weekend. WHAT A BOAT!!' It was strange how they hobbled him with a handicap of 931 Rodney |
