There might be a change of plan, the bar might not make it this year afterall, our shore crew and chief booze hound has decided to "entertain" his girlfriend instead of coming to Bala so it might be a slab of beer each instead of the full travelling bar.

Bala is a great venue, take care on the very narrow bridge as you enter
the site and take everything you think you'll need for the weekend, food
& beer wise. People have been known to sleep on or under their boat.

We'll should be there with 4 boats from Tresaith plus a bar.

A BAR?! There are the 3 Rutland based 'A' class sailors and a couple of
others from here coming too, do you want to take our orders now?!

Ta!

Thanks for the tips.  We've booked down the road at Bwch yn Uchaf.  Don't think sleeping under the boat would go down too well with The Crew...

Paul,

The boat park is pretty much just an extension of the campsite.

Bala is a great venue, take care on the very narrow bridge as you enter the site and take everything you think you'll need for the weekend, food & beer wise. People have been known to sleep on or under their boat.

http://www.penybont-bala.co.uk/ is near Bala sailing club and used by many visiting the mono-hull club. In the other direction from the Cat club is http://www.bwch-yn-uchaf.co.uk/

For a B+B near the Cat club you could try http://www.glan-y-gro.co.uk/ and In Bala town http://www.bala-backpackers.co.uk/

I'm thinking about doing the Bala open next weekend, but I'm having trouble sorting out somewhere to stay.  I was planning to just take a tent, but the campsite just has an answerphone message saying they're full that weekend.

I've not done this event before.  Will we get away with just pitching a tent in the boat park?  Or has anyone got any other suggestions for local campsites or accomodation?
