I am using the hook-thingy on the right of this picture for my outhaul. I am also using a bobble at the top of the main halyard rather than the suggested knot on knot method. I have tied bowlines for the kicker and for the cunningham attachments so far. Has anyone found a suitable hook-thing for the cunningham attachment? Please can you post a pic of how the 'sail foot strap' is meant to be - as I think I left it off on the basis that I always have one spare part after making up Ikea furniture;-) Edited by asterix |

Yes, it is pretty irritating that little detail have to say. Rushed down late to go out racing on weekend only to discover that after hoisting the sail with the clew strap on, but not the outhaul, that the outhaul rope had disappeared inside the boom, not just inside but right to the gooseneck end ! Had to unbolt the boom to shake it back down to the end, rapidly refixed the boom etc. etc. only to find I had forgotten to put the boom through the kicker and cunningham first ! Got on the water with 30 seconds to go - best start I've ever had ! Being really clever decided to prevent this happening again I would tie a knot in the outhaul to prevent it pulling back through the sheeve. Rushed down the following day (late again) rigged in a hurry tied off the outhaul with the knot etc. etc. Got out on the water, sail looked a bit full so went to pull on the outhaul only to discover I had forgotten to undo the first knot and couldnt pull any on at all ! Hey ho, its all fun ! |

Cheers Jim ... and if the 100 rig is anything like as clever in it's design it will be very easy to sail quick as once set right the rig does so much work for you you can get your head out of the boat and really enjoy! Downhaul outhaul try this:- found here:- http://www.sailboats.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=456150

Asterix. I was told not to use a bobble on the top of the sail as it is undedr
compression load and the bobble will then dig into and ultimately damage the sail at the top. |

![]() Hmm that thing has something of the Michael Howard about it. Not sure it's entirely of this world. In fact I'd even go as far as to say 'Mandelson' it's that bent. I shall consider further. I also am bobbled, it seeming a perfectly natural thing.. Edited by G.R.F. |

I dont see the point of the clew strap on the 8.4. It can't reach around the
mast and if onto the boom, the sail is shackled so it has no effect?? |

ah to bobble or not to bobble.... having broken a number of "rope" halyards, I offer the opinion that bobbles seem to cause less breakages than knots, however, I knows quite a few peeps who believe the opossite, so perhaps a rope 'guru' could shed some light on this vital topic?
