Well this pic might not be one for the NS purists but believe us - the full size dagger was brillaint but not good for far too many UK / Euro locations !  The mod is the first major one and the case is over size to allow a range of foils and for/aft positions to be tried from next week.

Icon 002 will now stay the same and be used for rig work .... meanwhile 001 will undergo some REALLY radical surgery .... a few more shocks for the purists there.  001 will eventually be sacrificed to the tooling plug once we have sorted the eventual hull and further improved the aesthetics - without destroying the 'look'.

Can I just say, I think you should reconsider your logo..... i   con, is how it reads. I'm not sure it is the image you want to portray or indeed provide an easy target to nay sayer's in forums, press or sailing club bar.

Apple developed the naming convention as a prod band statement to allow it's products to speak confidently in the first person. iMac ( I am a Mac ). You may be slightly jumping on a popular device a little late without fully understanding reasoning behind it.

BTW lovely boat.

That centre board case looks well designed and I think that a centre board makes the whole sailing thing a lot better than the dagger board. At least when there is a centreboard you don't forget to take the bloomin thing to a regatta! The other benefit is the fact that the case acts as somewhere to put your feet when roll tacking. It is similar to those in a Phantom and makes life very easy on your feet. Is it worth adding a centre anchor point for the toestraps? Looks very long to me and would make it hard for the helm and crew to stay in one spot when hiking in the rough stuff?

Gotta to say that the whole boat looks lovely (definitely better than the Halo you had at the Beastie ) . All I need now is for my 3 year old girl to grow up.
Everything I say is my opinion, honest

I would want another anchor point for the toestraps. I don't like hiking from
the same strap as the crew, the strap moves as they do and you never really
feel locked in.

Boat looks pretty sweet though.

Maxi

Production boats will probably have separate toestraps but we are still following the NS14 setup at present and I'm surprised how well it works with variable crews - not what I thought either.

The lack of kickbar previously was greatly missed previously and we have greatly improved the non-slip as well.  The board is well a bit 'phantomish' at the moment really but we will be trying several and playing with balance fore/aft in the next few weeks.  The move to centreboard is only part of the programme and significant further changes are in the pipeline.  The dagger even made the Tasar one look short ....

Jack - fully understand branding point (my field way back) but a case can be made against almost any name if you work at it long enough.  It is completely deliberate however and in line with another pattern of boat names we are following - so guess what next ...

The biggest argument against it as a name is this:-

Results 1 - 10 of about 22,000,000 for icon sailing dinghy.
Results 1 - 10 of about 2,390,000 for icon sailing.

compare to:

Results 1 - 10 of about 636,000 for tasar

are you going to offer a Dagger board version or is that it? I don't see what every ones problem with it is in a one man boat yes it does make launching and coming ashore a bit harder but with a monkey in the front you should be able to master a dagger board?
