I sailed there until I went away to be a student (mid 90s) and came back Winter 2008 with my vortex.

Chris, I was building up momentum to try and bother the missus for one of the early deals on these but i found out we have a pre-order on one of those other things that comes on a 9 month delivery (due late september fingers crossed) and proceeds to take all your money (bit like an RS100 really). Which means spending the cash on a boat may not be greatly appreciated.

Besides the vortex and I have lots of unfinished business (nose up si, nose up)

See my above comments!

PS. I used to teach at the "Residential Centre" as it was called then and was owned by the council.

We use to rob their boats every year to do the NSSA regatta.

I originally started following this thread as I really wanted one but..

I think maybe I was being a bit obtuse above,  we have a baby on the way due in the Autumn that means I haven't got the money to buy a new boat!
At the moment it will be a toss up whether the Vortex stays / goes or ends up in temporary hibernation TBH.

That's very decent of you, much appreciated. That would give me a chance to show Chris whether I can submarine an RS100 too!! (I joke)

Are you intending to do Wednesday racing in it?

According to the papers yesterday the whole life cost (well the whole life
while at home live cost) of one of these is £200k. And the return on
investment is shocking from a financial pov, so it's just as well that there
are other benefits.

I've now got two at uni and one doing here GCSEs , which is why I bottled
out of ordering an RS100 at the boat show!

I wouldn't be without them, but some times I do wish they weren't so
bloody expensive to keep!

Yeah, we had kind of gathered the cost element might be a bit heavy. Especially as we are fairly evenly split on how much money we bring into the house.

However, I don't suppose grumpf wants his nice shiny RS100 thread going O/T again (expecially to child rearing and midwifery)

Hey, congratulations Simon and Jo (? apologies but my memory for names
is not great !) that is great news. My advice - make the most of the next
few months before the fun really starts ! Amazing what a great torture
sleep deprivation is ! But wouldn't have missed it for anything.

Actually they don't start to get REALLY expensive to about 8 years old
when they discover electronic games and stuff (makes an RS100 seem low
cost by comparison - mine will be wanting cars in the next couple of
years !) You will probably be Ok till then provided you are allowed to
sneak off !

All the best,

Chris

Not now Kato (you fewl) !
