Let´s keep it simple simon undergraduate-like then. My question relates solely to the increase in mainsheet tension which might occur when a boat starts to plane in marginal conditions, nothing more. Anything else is, however irrelevant to this question. There is a real reason for wanting to know this. With all due respect I don´t need to know about your laser - it´s a blow downwind boat and only has one sail. ![]() if you´re prepared to look for it. And what about main sheet tension on the RS100 in this context then? ![]() Edited by Slippery Jim |

I humbly apologise for any reason to have motivated you use defamatory and aggressive language on this forum when I was clearly showing signs of being fed up with not having my question understood. Perhaps you should reconsider your tone. Experience - luckily second hand - has shown me that the verbal assailant wakes up a few hours later in hospital with multiple, severe injuries, such as glass in the face, neck, stabbing wounds, baseball bat bludgeons and so on. I know you can hide behind your monitor sniggering, but my advice to you is to save the talk about dicks for when you need to use your own for the right reasons and otherwise not to take that type of language out in public. Shalom and good night Edited by Slippery Jim |

Whilst we are on the subject on mainsheets
![]() the 100 finalised design having a standard deck mounted turret / jammer arrangement rather than the off-boom sheeting that was initially trialled ? Personally I was hoping the off-boom sheeting would come to fruition as it is such a sweet feature on the 49er, ergonomically perfect and enabling very dynamic trim control (not a big fan of jammers and really struggle to release the main in gusts regardless of what I do to ease them). Thinking of maybe using the sheet leading from the boom sailing upwind and just using the jammer on the downwind. Will the blocks allow this ? Edited by ChrisC |

Look you lot, this is supposed to be a helpful RS100 owners thread, not an
arena for discussing the various sheetloads of antiquated and outmoded garbage.. Start your own thread, here let me suggest a title. Sheet Loads on Sad Boats for Simpletons.. So stfu & fotsyot. edit sorry Chris C not aimed at you.. Edited by G.R.F. |

With the first production boats now launched (and lots more on their way !)
what is the situation with class rules and class association etc. ? New to RS boats so not really sure what to expect. |

I doubt it, you would need the ratchet block on the boom. Also more importantly will the rules allow this? In the 500 its in the rules that you cant sheet off the boom. |

Cheers Wobble. I will look out for that in the rules (and only do it when
nobody's looking !). 49ers dont use a ratchet on the main. Not wishing to go down the "Mainsheet Load" route again (honestly !), I would have thought that with the huge purchase of the sheeting from the end of the boom / transom the mainsheet loads would be very low ? On the Vortex, which is centre boom sheeted and hence has huge mainsheet load, I have caused very painful crushing damage to my hands - doctors orders not to wrap sheet around my hand !! |
