Hi everyone,
The tyre on one of my launching trolley wheels was a bit soft when I launched the boat this morning and when I returned to shore the wheel was completely flat - it might have had something to do with the water temperature, it really was that cold ! No problem I thought, however, I hadn't realised that the tyre was tubeless and because the seal had broken on the bead, it wouldn't take any air. There are several solutions 1) buy a new wheel/tyre assembly, 2) put an inner tube in the tyre or 3) take it to a tyre fitter with a decent high pressure air-line to see if the bead will seal against the rim of the wheel. Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem and have they any suggestions ? Cheers, Nigel P.S. I did try the airline at the local Tesco's petrol station, but it wasn't very high pressure and didn't sort out the problem |

If you cover the inside of the rim and then the tyre in washing up liquid it should seal, well in worked for a trailer wheel anway.

Trolley tyres/wheels are hardly the most engineered of wheels. I've seen plenty of long-winded and fiddly repairs undertaken at our club, and they never last long. Buy a new trolley wheel, it's quicker and simpler in the long run. |

Put an inner tube in it, i got a pair for about £5 or 6 each. They are the same ones which i put in my trailer wheels (and wheel barrows) so its good to have a spare in the car anyway. Much simpler than fiddling around to get a good seal and if you get a puncture its easy to fix with a bicycle tyre kit. |

Nice bloke at the tyre stockists sorted it out in about two minutes - the joys of having access to a decent high pressure airline.........and just in case, I've ordered a couple of inner tubes from Ebay,
Cheers, Nigel |
