Just dropping in to correct possible missinformation. I know you are keen to associate the new RS100 with the successful MPS but really without detailed knowledge of the build of both boats this is a very missleading assumption. The build of a any boat is complex; the selection and specification of resins grades, glass spec, weave, layup, foam thickness and type, selective use of carbon, gel spec & type ... just to say that any boat made with resin from the epoxy type is simialr is a nonsense. There are polyesters that are superior in some ways to cheap epoxy resins ... it is complexed. BTW I believe Vynlester (sp?) is an epoxy resin You wouldn't say a Ford has the same bulid quality and durability to a Merc because they are both made of metal |

Rick using Ford is a very poor comparison. The build quality of the Ford product is frankly superb, If you check there CSi results over the last 5 years they far surpass that of Mercedes-Benz, selling a shed load more vehicles.
Anyway forget the 100 in this thread, lets talk about the D-one PS. Good to have you back fella. |

Not in my experience; just had to scrap my father-in-laws 8 year old Fiesta due to it being rusty. My wifes 5 yo Fiesta had rust coming through the rear wheel arches ... the ones I have seen are crap. My grandads old Merc looked like new after 12 years of ownership. Anyway back off into hibernation ... |

Thats fair enough, we can all just talk about our own experiences. Unfortunately i have commercial interests in the motor industry (it is unfortunate) and these are just my day to day experiences and statistics i get e-mailed through.

Vinylester is a sort of epoxy resin-ish. Not as much cross-linking so not as strong. But a step up from Polyester. Anyhoo, back to D-One programming

I was under the impression that that vinylesters and epoxies are distincly chamicaly different, in the same way that epoxies are different from polyester resins. Even if the physical properties produced are similar, which I expect is a inaccurate simplification...... |

My understanding too: I think vinylester is more a superior polyester than an inferior epoxy. I don't, off hand, know where it stands on the crucial problem of microcracking. |

From what I know its slightly better than polyester & has better resistance to chemicals, but is a lot more expensive and has a shorter "use-by" date. Its only really used in classes where epoxy is banned, as its advantages neglible against cost. |
