Could be a new sport. Question is whether to have a race or just style scoring

I believe what Mr Bowers is talking about is the way that the front of the main luffs  - it maps out the jib slot.  If the jib slot is uniform (ie jib twist matches the main) then the main will back uniformly around the slot (as you ease the main or head up), if the jib has too much twist there will be more backing lower down. Conversley if the jib is twisted less than the main, there will be more backing higher up.  So you get a map of the slot.

Similarly the jib luff maps out jib twist. With the correct twist the front of the jib will lift uniformly, too much twist and the head backs first etc.

Here's a little bit of Chris Nicholson.

You know, 49er/505/18 Footer Champ.

Fresh from the Volvo and a trip from Sydney to Hobart.

Sailing in the 16's Nationals at Belmont, it gets a bit untidy.

Here's a little highlight reel from the 49er Worlds in the Bahamas. Stevie
Morrison is tearing it up! 12 points in 5 races, not counting the drop.
