These pictures show UYC as the water was on the way back down when
people were able to get along the lakeside road to recover damaged
boats etc after last weeks rain in Cumbria.

The water got to a level about 10 inches above floor level in the main
clubhouse building. For those of you who don’t know the club, that
means the lake rose about 9 feet!

We are currently assessing damage to the club buildings. Remarkably
little damage was done to any of the boats.

Turns out it can rain in the Lake District!

A big thank is owed to a few who managed to get down to the club on
thursday night and move most of the dinghies to higher ground.

I'm amazed that you didn't loose any boats. 

Thats a sad sight seeing the club house flooded.  I hope it clears up ok for you.

The flood waters at ours receded out of the clubhouse last week and we are now looking at the damage.
Funnily enough the boats most at risk were the ones that were tied down because they couldn't move. Most of the rest just floated about merrily. Lucky the wind wasn't too bad.

No way, i didn't even think about UWYC in the recent floods!  I'm really gutted, many a late night drinking in that club house!  I hope its all sorted for the Lord Birkett!

thats a hell of a lot of rain water to make a 7 mile long lake rise by 9 feet!! Its really weird looking at those photo's compared to ones where the water is at its normal level
