TIG welding is a difficult skill to learn. If you can do it and are confident then go for it.

TIG is probably the easiest method of welding, but welding aluminium is a different matter.  The heat you put into the aluminium can cause the material around the weld to become brittle.  My advice would be to take it to a proper fabricator who deals with aluminium.

Richard - rack joints and sleeved ally that forms part of it. The old owners had used Kevlar to rebuild and reinforce most of the corners on the racks, so we are going to be fixing them up properly!

We are NOT letting olly weld, EVER, besides he has far more important girlfriend related things to do this weekend!

The guy doing the welding is a proper fabricator, however, in ollys haste to go sailing, he wants to get it done asap (hence why he wants to do it, which will of course end in disaster!!

Dont worry, the fabricator is doing it on wednesday...

oh come one i can weld fine, and can weld ali,

and it may be girlfriend weekend, but she is a coowner of the boat so not a " you cant sail" gf.

just picked up our new suits of sails. so now have nearly 3 full suits and hopefully another 2 next week,
