I saw the pictures that radixon put of your capsize
I have to say its a very nice looking boat. Blue is the
best colour for the 300. Everyone is going to know its you
thats over the start line at events though
If you want some Maff to add to your pimp list then you
need to go to the stand i found at the LBS. It was so cheap
there. They had 2 massive baskets full of mainsheet length
offcuts.

This thread seems to have been dead for ages so i thought i would start it going again.

I brought the 600 home a couple of weeks ago and stuck it in the garage for the winter clean-up. The racks have been removed and ive been gradually working away at it to get it to how i want it to look.

I had a nasty surprise when i removed the port rack. It had clearly taken a massive knock at some point in its life and so needed some repairing work done to straighten it.

Ok, most of the stuff ive done is probably bimbling. But it freshens up the boat and makes it look nice. Plus it is expensive and unneccessary. But isnt that the point of all this?

I went to the London Boat Show yesterday in search of some bargains i wasnt disappointed.

I got some 8mm Swiftcord and some 3mm Evolution race from a Maffioli Bargain bin at a stand called Outdoor Xscape. They had loads of various length and width offcuts of swiftcord, evo race and the SK75 stuff. And it was all rock bottom prices. I got 7m of 8mm Swift for a tenner! BARGAIN.

So thats my new mainsheet sorted!

And at the Harken stand they were selling winter gloves for a tenner aswell.

This will complete the Gucci winter fit-out of the 600.

This includes: ALL maffioli ropes (even on the U bolts)

Resprayed wings in gloss black. They are being done in my mates Dads car body workshop soon for a professional job. The maff covers on the U bolts is to protect the new paintjob they are getting.

I'll get some pictures of these when i get them back.

New progrip and gorilla pad.

I also came to my senses and decided that i didnt need that gay pink mainsheet cleat. So off it came.

Ill take some better pictures when its all finished and the boat is back together.

Salty, I run a dinghy chandlery and just don't bother stocking anything bigger than 8mm!!!
You mentioned Swiftcord though. The 8mm is a big 8mm, more like 9 or 10mm and it's loverly and soft...

Salty no wonder the others bailed from sailing today, with rancid chat
like that I'm supprised you lot even summon the courage to get out of
bed in the morning! 10mm mainsheet, don't think they use that on a
tp52! It's not pimp it's just soft, pimp would be using such small dia
rope you need to use servos to trim it via an iPhone.

Yeah i know theres not much load, its just nicer to hold on
to i feel.

The main block on the deck is a Harken 57mm carbo
ratchamatic i think and the other 3 are the 40mm Ti-lites.
They could do with being the 57mm ones aswell so the rope
runs a bit easier. But that would be more unnecessary
expense.

...... I just don't know what to say.    There isn't even much load in the main
once you've got enough kicker on.

You must have HUGE blocks to run that rope through.

just hope we're still talking rope here

I do think 12mm is a bit too much through for a mainsheet. Oh well a bit of blimbing surly.

What on earth?! Why are you using such a fat mainsheet? The 600 works
well with a good 7mm mainsheet. Why you'd want more than that I've no
idea.
