Since the little one has been born, i think i've forgotton how to sail...... must be the lack of sleep....

Next event Guy Fawkes pursuit (Leigh and Lowton) 74 boats last year, will have more cries of bandit after that

*edit* slight Exaggeration of number :-)

OOOooo i might come up and do that, if i'm free.  I started sailing more after my first child was born it was my time to get away and unwind!  My wife is now pregnant with our second!! (Haven't mentioned to anyone on here yet)  I am a bit worried this may start effecting my sailing time!!

Agreed, but it's got there because of the boat it has become, not the boat that it was before. I don't think any of the guys listed apart from possiblly two were sailing Phantoms before they went carbon.

My Club went tp 1030 for them 2 years ago, and this is still a little generous.

This year our annual prize giving could be embarrasing, 3/4 of the available trophies have been won by one man. In a Phantom. Now he is a good sailor but not a great sailor, in my humble opinion. Another chap who has little experience but much enthusiaim has just bought one and on his first day out on the first lap he found himself in front where he promptly fell in, an act subsequently repeated several times. At the end of the day he said "I did nothing......the boat just blew me to the front". I think that sums up Phantoms, If you can control them you will do well. On our lake It seems to me that 1010 would be fair, a little slower than a 300.

So if there is complete agreement, with well backed results and examples, can there not be a case to be made to the RYA for change to 1010?

I would much rather have a race that was reflective of the skill level than any other external factor, even with all the foibles of the PY system.
