I think you'll find that they are 14 foot skiffs, note the snout on the bow which wasnt allowed on I14's at that time. If I'm right then they were a lot lighter than modern I14's which may explain why they are going properly.

Clever, but exactly what I dislike about class racing - don't like doing it to others, hate having it done to me. I thought Championships were there to find the fastest sailor, not the best chess-player/lawyer?

yes it was a great move and the guy who crossed the finish line first (out of the two boats) was the fastest sailor by definition. 

Why would you not make a move like that if you could get in place to do it?

I liked it. Good move & Sailgroove is one of the best sites for posting this stuff.

Just the sort of tactic you'd expect to see at World Championship level.
