Where is your favourite championship venue? To my mind this has to be somewhere with good waters (waves but not too strong a tide), good launching (not dragging the trolley acoss 1000 yards of quick sand, no hidden rocks, not surfers paradise), changing rooms big enough for everyone and all set in an attractive town that provides plenty for the family to do whilst I'm sailing. Places like Garda and Carnac are obvious, but where in Britain do you like? |

Garda's rubbish compared to Como - I really love that lake! In the UK, Mumbles is good, and I like Torquay a lot. Great race management and a "proper" yacht club, plus Torbay can be a fabulous place to sail.

Hayling!
It's always easy to launch no matter what the conditions. If the conditions are too harsh in the bay, you can race in the harbour. Fantastic facilities, huge bar and a good fry up in the mornings. I've loved being there every time I go! 2nd would be Rock! Absolutely great place to be for a champs. |

Funny isn't it how much opinions can vary... I dislike Hayling intensely and the one Championships I did at Rock was horrible. Both venues have far too many sandbanks for me! As a piece of water I like Weymouth, although I've always liked Castle Cove better than the National Sailing centre, which for all its facilities lacks a certain something. Plymouth can be fun. Torbay is good too. My absolute favourite venue, which isn't suitable for the big classes, is New Quay in Wales. Sheltered launching on sand and a 5 minute sail out to open water and dolphins joining you on the reaches. Bliss! Edited by JimC |

Penzance. All the wavey fun of Mount's Bay but you can always launch out of the harbour. Top class race management and a really friendly welcome.

It lacks a club! We've moved to Castle Cove to be part of a sailing club rather than a sailing venue. |
