Th Gul ones are good - but I agree a bit uncomfortable - though they do wear in eventually.
Otherwise I'd recommned the Lomo wetsuit range - some serious built in kneepads. Edited by timeintheboat |

Knee pads are compulsory on a Contender too. You hardly spend any time sitting down, even in light winds. And I'd like to see someone getting under the boom without kneeling down... Even Soren can't do that! |

As a helm, you can't tack or gybe a catamaran without kneeling. If anyone wants to tell me how it might be possible I'm always willing to learn.

Someone told me on Sunday, that the scars on my scuffed and reddened knees meant I was sailing my boat wrong. Supposed to stand up or sit apparently - though I note the Swift Solo lot say knee pads are mandatory. |

Just do what I do and end up with cuts and bruises on your knees and lower legs after a week long event. They heal up eventually

i bought some good ones from boots the chemist! i think they are lined neoprene they are quite comfortable and dont dig in when your leg is bent cant remember how much but about 12quid each

In all honesty I wore a shorty yesterday because I had left my full suit in my kit bag since Tuesday and it was more than a little whiffy. Crew is still in full drysuit so anything that involves going more than testicle-deep into the water I leave to him. I got some Gul kneepads when I sailed a Vortex many years ago but found them a bit uncomfortable to be honest. And now long since lost/eaten by dog. Although they are the most basic in terms of design and protection, I am leaning towards the non-adjustable Crewsaver pads. No such thing as too much skiing Scooby. My left knee is fooked from a car crash 18 years ago and my right from high-jumping at school. My knees sound like they are on ratchets. |

I just wear a full length suit. My knees are fooked anbyway from too much skiing and so I need to keep they warm or they hurt like hell. For me, hot knees are better than sun-tanned knees !
