The kite surfing is supposedly being held not in front of this mega stand but off Copocabana beach (presumably not at the same time as the open water swimming)

amusing mental image of kites hung up on harbour walls.......while competitors and ribs circle underneath and Rob wotsit twitters on in the background before handing over to a smiley Shirley in a rib for some useful 'insight' into what the competitors are thinking

Why not hold the medal races on the Brazilian equivalent of Eaton Dorney and be done with it.

it would be fairer... what about massive building, configured basically as a wind tunnel with stadium seating to the rafters down either side of a massive (600-800m across, maybe 1500m long) pool?

In the paper today- apparently the organisers have been "inspired" by the Nothe course, and are planning something similar near the Marina with a grandstand holding 10,000 people. |
