60-75 kilo is is light for an a-cat - the top sailors typically range from start 70s to end 80s.
and its pure fun, so go buy one.

Fat isn't fast in most Cats. As they dont tend to plane, extra weight means extra wetted surface area and more drag. As a result heavier guys can hit a speed wall before the light guys run out of righting moment.
As has been said the exercise is almost certainly about getting a feel for what the AC45 is going to be like, rather than trying to dominate A-class sailing.

Well certainly most of the top guys in the As are between 65-75kgs and the Finn guys weigh in 90-95kgs

I guess Giles has bought it to get some multihull experience and like most professional sailors he will get himself to the correct weight.
Plus I guess it might be helpful to be a bit lighter for the AC45.
