In theory the first call on a trophy is not the helm, not the crew, its the boat owner! Shocked

Don't tell the parents.

Good communication between crews is essential, on and off the water. Wink

Thank you for answering, it seems sharing is very reasonable. Good.

Before asking you I just didnt know if I was thinking unreasonable things and breaking some etiquette or unwritten rules.

I'll wait for the 6mths to pass and then see what helm does. Helm is a nice person and much more sailing experience so she will hopefully offer a share without me saying anything.
If not I’ll see how I still feel and I know I can carefully ask her without being worried.

Later this year I’ll try really hard to remember to let you know what happens!

Thank you again to everyone who replied, a nice friendly forum. Big smile

Sharring is definitely appropriate, your helm may have forgotten so a gentle reminder may be in order.

I'm in the fortunate position of living with my crew, so She polishes them for 6 months and then it's my turn. Unhappy

If she values you as crew (which I'm sure she does) then she will gladly respond to a friendly request to "share" the trophy.

It is usually the responsibility of the boat owner to get the trophy back to the club for the next year, so I can see why it would gather dust at their house. Ask - she may not realize you have any interest in it. I tend (depending on age) to try to make sure my crew gets a more than fair share of the drinkable/edible bounty.

Yes she should at least give you a share of it.
As you say, it was a team effort.
Good crew are like gold dust.....

There is an informal organisation called the
"Crew's Union". I am sure some of them will
see this and give you the benefit of their experience.

:-)

It depends on how ugly the trophy is and how much room it takes up in the house...
