Big smile I eventually purchased a new gasket for and Aderson New Baler, I am glad to say that this fitted perfectly. I re installed the Baler using a marine sealant and I am glad to say that it has shown no sign of leaking. Thanks to all for the advice.

Thanks to both of you for the advice and information, I think a visit to a Chandlery to check size is a must. I will let you know how I get on.

I think the Anderson New Large Gaskets are self-adhesive.  However, they are very specific - you would probably be advised to measure (or trace) the dimensions and go into a chandlery to check you don't spend £11.82 on the wrong thing.

If you are trying to do a DIY solution the best material may be a thin neoprene, which is what the Anderson-supplied ones appear to be made of.

I think you'll find the name Is Elvstrom now know as Anderson.

Best wishes from deep in the woods

I sail a GP14, and have just removed one of the Self Bailers, which was leaking with the intention of renewing it or refurbishing it. The name of it is not very clear but it looks like HLVSTROM made by Horsholm of Denmark. I can't find anyone who stocks these, but the equivalant size seems to be an Anderson New Large. I am thinking of obtaining a new Gasket for one of these (price is unbelievable at £11-82 for a small rubber gasket) which I think will fit my old Bailer. If you've had the patience to read this far my question is simply, what sort of  glue would I use to attach the new seal to the old bailer?, any ideas would be welcomed.

By the way has anyone ever tried making a new gasket out of sheet rubber and if so was it successful?
