I think main halyard aside, if you broke 2 at the weekend then its more likely that there is a problem with the hook for the main. Have you capsized and bottomed out recently? Before you go buying Si's rope maybe check that first.

For me 4mm funky pink dyneema. Nothing special but does the job...

Right- well if you saved money not having to buy a new main halyard you can splash out on a sexy tapered spi halyard, Dyneema core tapered into 6mm excel fusion (light less windage etc), then just after the cleat position (fat bit of rope is exactly in the correct position for cleat) stripped out inner core to leave just the jacket for the rest (less weight, jacket goes flat gives you good grip for dousing the kite and fusion jacket has dyneema in it so it doesnt stretch on the drop), then at the spi patch end a 12" length of dyneema back in the fusion so that the knot is big enough so it doesnt pull back through the next downhaul ring or webbing !!  And that my friend is that !! BTW we can flog you one of those too funnily enough :)

As it's main halyard; the smallest you can get away with!  mine's (I think) 3mm

Good plan, we need a slightly longer spinnaker halyard.

12mm for a main halyard...that will never break...lol

Main Halyard 4-5mm max dyneema core, I prefer the marlow, but the kingfisher is good too.

I always replace my spinnaker halyard and use the old one for the main...

We broke out Main Halyard at the weekend (twice). What is the best string to replace it with.
