I've not said a word yet - and will continue to resist joining in the main part of this debate.

BUT if Matt and Ben want to further test the longevity of their new sails, they would be very welcome to race at this Sundays Brass Monkey Event at Yorkshire Dales SC.

I'm sure we can come up with an experimental / temporary PY that will be remarkably similar to the normal one. Wink

Of course, anyone else is welcome as well - even bandits!

Oh, so is it alright for someone selling something to make such claims whether or not there is evidence to support it?
Sailmakers have been since racing began... given how bad salesmanship seems to be in general in the dinghy world (according to our forum salesman, that is!) we should be applauding anything they make from this...

Please don't be petty about this and start looking for more villainy.

Err no, the sailmaker didn't lay claim to it, the speeds blog was quoting that the sailors themselves had perceived an advantage. In the context of this issue that casts a completely different light on the subject.

PY 1006.
The hull is only 14ft and weighs 90kg bare.
The hull shape has some arcane rules and has not changed ever so much in 20 years.
Seems reasonable.

No James, it is completely unrelated, it's me just having another pop at those damn 14 sailors.... Doesn't have any context what so ever Confused. Agree with you, you are just posting quotes in the context of debate.

Doug, +1 (Again)

Can you imagine if Aeroweb sails get passed by the MROA, what a brilliant position speed sails will be in. "So good they tried to ban them!" springs to mind. I'd be rubbing my hands together at the moment waiting for an influx of AeroWeb GP14 sails orders.

(B*gger GRF just got to the point before me!)

Well I was fairly late into this, but it has provided more entertainment than can be found on the box these days, my summary of the affair appears to go, the boys did four events (I'd have been less impressed by the victory if I'd spotted the PY earlier I might add)I say boys, are they boys or young men? Anyway clearly pro jocks (so lets forget the amateurs tag) who were on a loan deal trialling new rags. If it had been a problem with the fleet they were racing one has to ask why not call them on it from day one?

So they win, then somebody calls them on it in their own forum, they get good support from all around them including the 2nd boat home, then someone tries to hush it up and shuts the thread. Then it surfaces here, at which point it's already a bit late.

So we have our merry go round then they fall on their sword (how much cash is involved? The cynic in me wonders how much this played a part on the sword falling delay) job done should have been an end to it, cue outpouring of support - good lads - well done etc etc.

Then the confusing Class statement, easy to bash a class, no one person etc etc so they get rounded on but honestly what has it got to do with the class? They don't have any say on what their members do at other events do they? Or was it the assumption that they or someone on their behalf gave a tacit green light to the use of the new rags.

Now the winners in all this surface, classic forum manipulation I couldn't have done better myself in my hey day on kite forum, it's got everything going for it and the product so much exposure they couldn't have paid money for it. The class really has no alternative now but to consider the acceptance of the sails, they're backed into a corner, the boys? Well they're blameless really wasn't they're fault guv they just done what they were asked innit?

No the real Villains look no further than those wicked Sailsmen and sign here on the dotted line at the dinghy show..

Don't anybody tell me this wasn't planned from the get go..

Classic thread, worth a fortune....
