Graeme.. that's a bummer chap. Sorry to hear about it.
Am liking the eye patch thing though.  Chicks dig scars and all that.......
I have "interesting" eyes as well, (specs since the age of two Smile),
and have always sailed like I have one eye anyway, and as far as I
can discern others sail that way as well. Can't all be me surely.
So it's not going to be the end of your sailing career.

Anyhow, if the quacks can't help, then perhaps a visit to the forum
of Practical Boat Owner might help.  They must surely have some wheeze
or gadget for getting a spot of superglue round the back there, and stick
the b*gger back on.

Another thought occurred... did "self abuse" contribute to this problem?  Wink

Yes absolute essential, any prolonged on water activity, some decent shades. Kaenon used to be the name known for good Polaroid lenses, polaroid also pretty much de facto for use on water to cut the glare, especially if you're going hot sunny blue water cruising for example.

I guess I'm not surprised, I've had this coming, been mucking about with high impact watersports for far to long now, best part of forty years UV bashing. Had every kind of contact lens, lost hard ones in the med, squished soft ones in the aegean, lost glasses and shades in about every ocean in the world at one time or another and have tried every option bar laser (wouldn't voluntarily go anywhere near another semi competant human with a potentially destructive device and bits of my body thanks).

Then that's not to mention the snow sports and occasional snow blinding.. when you consider it all I have to admit to being lucky I made it this far I guess, not that it makes it any less a bitter pill to swallow when your pretty much told to stop or you'll go blind, especially when I've heard that expression so many times before.. Wink

Sorry to hear you are temporarily grounded.

I went to get my eyes tested and was warned about the UVL bouncing off the water back into my eyes and the much higher risk of Cataracts and Macular degeneration as a result. -it does get depressing.

Shouldn't you be practising ironing mens shirts?

Shall I send some up?

Or you could try cleaning my car.. Wax On Wax Off.. Wink

I am pleased to say I have done no ironing at all in the last eight months - can't lift the iron LOL

But I am now able to polish the smod - as you say, wax on, wax off....so therapeutic....

You can do yer monster truck yerself.....

Has anyone got any bright ideas for sunnies that don't get completely coated in salt half way through the race and leave the race course invisible .I wear Harken 's currently but only for the first half of the race
