Local tyre fitters charged us £4 for fitting two tyres to rims last week. But we do buy all our car and van tyres there.

![]() Seriously thinking about inner tubes for mine. The tyre goes down randomly and I'm sure it's the seal. I think the pros use some kind of sealing paste.

Got it done last night.
First I tried putting a ratchet strap around it to squish it to the wheel but as the tire has a very soft carcase and the rubber grips the strap this just deformed it. Then I thought sod it, i'll give the blowing it up option a go. I tired to do it with an aerosol can of light fluid but it just burnt rather than explode Next i tried it with a small quantity of petrol but this had the same result result. How ever the tire was warming up nicely so I put a normal cargo strap around it to squish it to the wheel and tried again, this time with success. So what did i learn.... really just that its perseverance, and a good head of hair such that you can pull some of it out that really matters. Ian |

The fire trick is an old one and will work. Just use some wd40 and have a high preasure air hose near by, as the tyre will try and pop off as the fire contracts. I have not done it myself but the old man has. The other option is to take it to our local yre fitters and ask them to do it for you, but at "£20 a wheel it hardly seems worth the £10 to get them to do it!!

I did one recently with perseverance and a garage airline. The key was to try and squish it approximately into shape so there weren't any large gaps twixt bead and rim.

Ok not your normal technique question...
Being a cheap skate I have swapped a good tire from one wheel to another (that fits my trailer) but I'm having trouble now getting it to inflate. Its a standard tubeless tire and even with a garage airline I cant make a good enough seal on the rim to inflate it. Does any one have any handy tips on getting round this problem? Cheers Ian |
