Colleen doesn't look after the events page on the UKCRA website. That
page/calender is managed by Nick Henson ( events@catamaran.co.uk ).

Yes it is over the 11th and 12th.

I will drop Colleen an email and ask her to update the UKCRA website.

Cheers

So I take it the Forts Race is on the 11 & 12 September - in which case it is a shame because myself and three other boats cannot come from Thorpe Bay. I have always used the UKCRA calendar for cat racing. Are we to now assume that any dates posted on UKCRA are now wrong ?

This does seem bizzare that there are three events in the same Estuary on the same weekend. So they will all lose out !

I book all of my events in March/April its a bit late to change the event dates in August !

I agree this is a bit of a mess but as an organiser it's quite hard.

This year the ECPR clashed with the F18 Worlds which took competitors away, this year we had to announce the 2011 date so we did but the F18's had not decided on the 2011 Worlds date at that time. Guess what - another clash next year.....

I know the Forts Race clash has frustrated the guys at Canvey.

Happy Sailing!

This clash of dates does not do cat racing any favours. Why Sheppey and Forts organisers can't sort their dates out so that they don't (once again) clash is beyond me. Having three good events taking place in relatively close proximity to each other over the same weekend makes us look a bit daft especially as we keep telling the wider sailing community how good multihull sailing is.

Ultimately it's the organisers' prerogative as to when they hold their events and other host club commitments will be a factor. But could not UKCRA take a stronger hand in protecting key cat events from these kind of conflicts? The current situation means that the 'market' is being split in a way in which nobody wins.

So, may be see you at Sheppey, possibly Whitsatble or I might go and enjoy the excellent hospitality at Canvey. Some decision!

The UKCRA calendar shows it on the 4th and 5th September. But a little bird has told me that it has been moved to 11th and 12th September - clashing with the round Sheppy Race and the Canvey Cat open.

Has anybody any idea ??
