The K6 was designed for those who do not want to trapeze and the target group is that band of people who are not small enough to race the majority of small sailboats. Whilst there is nothing to stop people sailing with a trapeze for fun - and yes it has been done in Germany, the class will stay as it is. There are too few boats for the larger sailor and the K6 meets the need perfectly giving exciting sailing and racing for those who are maybe normal European size. The last thing the class needs is to end up needing less crew weight in the boat.
With fleets growing on the Blackwater, Torbay, Carsington, Itchenor and various other clubs there is a renewed enthusiasm for the class which will be good for all those 'normal' size sailors.

Are you being tempted Bryan? I think there are 4 K6's at the Blackwater so the beginnings of a fleet. |

Has anyone who does read this forum tried a trapeze on a K6. I guess they are not class legal in UK, but I have seen that some German guys have tried it for handicap racing. Any comments?

Absoluty correct. Rondar still manufacture & sell the boat. Prehaps not as proactively as RS did in the past but at a considerably lower price! I am a little saddened that the current 100+ owners have not joined in this thread as yet, are they shy or just apathetic about their class?

I believe that you can still buy a K6 from RS, and Rondar
who are the original/ only builders have now taken the class over - the RS association still manages the circuit events though IIRC |
