Inflatable mast floats or closed cell foam cut to fit the top of the mast work well.

ping pong balls in mast and try to seal your mast are other ideas often suggested on here. |

but theres so much diference between 5L and 25L try again with 2 5Lbottles (not nice looking ) and see if that stops it turtling, if nto try with another to find the smallest volume that will hold it up. then just find one container that size, Andother question is do you have a hollow mast if so this will be filling up with water so when you go to bring it up right you will have to counteract the force of the mast full of water. If it is hollow you could fill it with foam to stop it filling with water and add some extra boyancy. (some other helpful person on here could help you with details abou this as I dont know what is best) |

I tried it with a 5 litre Squash bottle(when empty) and it helped but it still turtled, so recon its goin2 take quite a bit to keep it up.

Capsize it and find out up-thrust you need on the end of the mast. You don't want to put something too heavy up there! I have seen people with small mooring buoys or fenders tied up to the top of the main halyard - about 4 to 6 inches in diameter might be enough. |
