Polyester based filler is good - "Filly" or Isopon P38. Make sure the surface is sanded - to the wood - clean & dry first though to aid adhesion.

Or the polyester wood fillers from Ronseal (or is it cuprinol?) which are sold to fill in rotten windon sills. Same stuff, bigger tub!

Car body filler (plastic padding) Can be a little heavy in big doses, but if its a small 'Scrim' Job its cheap, easy to use, quick to set and easy to sand. Been using it on wooden boats for years, never had any problems either.

sorry, yes it is a wood ply.
The area to be filled is not a huge area maybe overall about the size of an A4 peice of paper, maybe a little more. It would only be a very thin filling. Dan |

Ply *wood*? Depending on what I had in the garage I'd either use epoxy and a very light filler or something like a polyester based marine filler. It might also depend on how much filling was needed! |

The hull is a ply material possibly 4mm thick and the planned finish is a 1pot polyeurethane international Toplac Paint.

How is the hull constructed and what is the planned finish? Both these affect best choice of filler.

Hi Guys/Gals
Does anyone have any information on using a wood filler to assist in faring a hull before spraying it. Would any lightweight exterior filler do the job? Dan |
