Ok thats fine then.
But they were in the sailing instructions so who am I to differ.
Off topic I know but the 420 at our club has about 2-3ft of rope on its trapeze wire insisting its in the rules so that saftey crew can cut it away.
And has now slackened the shock chord take up so the wire seems slack all the time because "they were too tight"
Correct me if im wrong but does all that sound
1. dagerous
2. just daft?

To my knowledge there are no rules. ISAF proposed one for a while, but it was abandoned after they discovered it was an awful lot more complicated a subject than was evident to a knee jerk response.

I have the QR button only cos thats what OH insisted on to give her peace of mind.

She since took it on a course and I think changed her mind on the QR issue, it didnt work that well.

There can be no quicker and reliable release than pushing your hand down the hook.

I have a fixed hook, my other half will have a flush hook if we ever get the 14 on the water, but not the Bethwaite type necessarily.

the same, but different...

I think thats what the last option was.
Is that the one where the plate on the harness is flush and a ball or disk goes into it?

Thats what I mean by Flush hook

I voted fixed as that is what I have grown up with and always used, but if I had a more widely available choice i'd go for the bethwaite ball type affair with flush plate on the harness and ball on the boat.
