Actually Streakers are pretty effective on the sea -  a finer entry than a Laser, but only if you wear Graemes special Rooster kit!.

rarely on the sea!  So I wouldn't get your knickers in a twist over it....

My knickers are not twisted, the only pair that might be are the ones I had to abandon in the womens changing room at Parkstone rather than ask the irate part clad woman who was passing me out the clothes I had left in their changing rooms unwittingly.

Then again do I really need my complementary Rooster Streaker team rider shreddies?

Or are there other bandit builders doing Streakers now?
Certainly a lot of new Streakers are Rooster ones, but by no means all. Dave Butler is the other main builder and I gather he's been building them for ages. Some people think his boats are faster! And quite a few boats are still home-built, including some very quick ones. So it's not all Steve Cockerill's fault!

Just as well I didn't pursue my 'chicken sh*t' analogy to it's logical conclusion then wasn't it, so it's just a class thing nobody much pays any attention to,  because they are old ditherers muppeting about in far flung puddles until one of them stumbles into the front of a bunch of laser hooligans and spoils their day then I guess.

Doesn't much worry me other than the obvious points I've made, they sink on the sea don't they?

In fact come to think of it I believe we have got one at our club, he's an ex headmaster, nice enough guy, wears a helmet in it which I've always thought was sensible, I think it's made of wood so other than eyeing it up as potential Nov 5th material it's never really blipped my radar. It could always be a Solo of course they're the same sort of thing aren't they? Are there Bandit Solos I wonder?

The Rooster Streaker Hull shape was moulded from a standard Jack Holt Kit built boat. Like any other class association the SCOA fully measured the Rooster Streaker before Rooster Sailing were allowed to go into production.

You bet he will be on board either because he is a jockey,  or because he wants to win!

No, of course it doesn't, though the more a SMOD class is raced then gradually the PY should become more accurate.
The other point surely is that there is no other authorised manufacturer in whose commercial interest it is to make a faster boat, thus devaluing the other make(s).

That is the downside of making new boats better, of course - people give up on the class. The class has to be in good enough health that people will buy the new boats. The alternative (which I am personally a fan of, but it only works with a class where one single builder has been swapped for another) is for the new boat to be built as near the same as possible shape and weightwise to allow all the boats to still be in with a chance. The prototype Rondar Firefly could have been far lighter than the old wooden boats, and had the shape tweaked, but why would the CA want to whan class racing is so close? John Claridge has done the same with the Lightning, where old and new boats are very similar speed.
Of course, in both cases it will limit the sale of new boats, at least in the short term. But in the longer term, there will still be a class around to built boats for.

The Streaker is multi builder, and so none of that applies. Built to the tolerances and may the best boat win - I'll bet the best sailor is on board, too.

The Enterprises did close the Slenderprise loophole though. If my memory serves me right - and it was 35 years ago - the problem was that the front bulkhead shape was controlled, but the location of the front bulkhead wasn't, so if you moved it bak you got a finer entry.
