vaseline also works well in the mast track i used to find in our old 5000 that it was hard to get the sail up to the top so put a small ammount in the track made it alot easyer so it works well for that it should work just as well for racks.

KY will wash away - not suprising as it is water based!!

Vaseline will keep everything moving, but 2 things - As stated above, don't get it on the deck it hurts.  Be careful of vaseline around rubber (eg. seals) as it will eat them over a loooong period of time

When you find a big kettle of crazy it's probably best not to stir it - Pointy Haired Boss

Surprised they didn't suggest putting a condom over the end might have been a bit obvious then...

yeah, thought so. i think even silicone based sprays will wash away. Vaselene will stay in the gap and in theory keep it all lubed up ready for the next removal.

Lets answer this with a bit of helpful advice!

Dan, are you trying to find a solution to stop them "fusing" together so you can get them apart again?

Vasoline will work but not sure how it will test the time sailing on the sea etc with salt etc.

Using grease would stain clothes or you could WD40 it instead.

Let us know how you get on.
