Well i'm hoping it's going to be October 2008 anyways just because i have my finals in july, and would like to see two giant cats battle it out, thats if Alinghi builds something and doesn't just forfeit the cup.

See the final paragraph on page 10 of the full text of the ruling  http://forums.sailinganarchy.com/index.php?act=attach&ty pe=post&id=67029 inviting a return to court if a date cannot be mutually agreed.

Also see a recent letter from GGYC to SNG confirming that they want an October date http://www.bymnews.com/coutts-to-butterworth-21.pdf

"However, the July 11, 2007 Notice of Challenge designated July 4, 2008 as the date of the first race, and July 6, 2008 and July 8, 2008 as the respective dates for the second and third races, if necessary, thereby satisfying the 10-month advance notice requirement. Contrary to SNG's assertion, that the parties wound up entangled in legal proceedings, which "interrupted" the 10-month period, does not invalidate the Notice of Challenge."

Is what the judge wrote in his judgement, so he thinks that they could have a july 08 DoG match if there's no agreement between the two parties.

There are certainly people who like to give that impression.

Not quite. GGYC wants October 08 and SNG wants July 09. The judge, quite explicitly, told them to sort it out themselves or return to court. He did not specify a date.

There are also two further cases raised by ETNZ, so the courtroom "action" is by no means over.

I've been looking at SA as well. There seem to be some people there who are very close to the action.

There has been talk of October in Valencia, but I think any dates there may well be influenced by the grand prix at the end August.

it's great following this on sailing anarchy forums, it looks like there's
gonna be another battle for the dates as alinghi seem to think they will be
racing June 09 whereas the judge was quite clear on June 08. I just want
them to get on with it so there can be some battles on the water rather
than the court room!

Don't hold your breath... There's plenty of trouble to come.

Hopefully now we'll see some action on the water, rather than in the court room.

The americas cup court case has now been resolved with the Oracle becoming the official challenger, it is likely to be in cats apparently.
