are 14 high aspect board, new 2007 was the same hight as my crew and he is a short ass. 5,8/9   this was one of the new ovington ones. we were starting to  lift it in anything over about 10knots and would lift it as much as a 1ft when it was full dogs of chains.

the GT60 was built by a couple of 14 sailors so that may have infulenced things a bit.

The original board on my old Benedict 4 was about 1.5m by 30cm, after it broke the replacement I got was narrower only about 25cm and slightly longer at probably 1.6m.

Most of that length was needed to get the tin rig out of the water after a swim
If it doesn't break it's too heavy; if it does it wasn't built right

you don't lift the board up much you just make sure you sail with plenty of water under you. 49er boards arn't particularly long, definatly not 5ft 11 cherubs vary quite a bit and 18fters? Someone else will have to fill that gap

does that mean you cant tack/gybe unless you are in relatively deep water as the boom would hit the board? surely this makes it hard to get out into open water?

how big are 49er, cherub and 18ft boards

My boat has definitely had a higher aspect board fitted but it is nearer 5'2"  than 5'11"
